Huw Darling's The Spanish Amanda project was first let loose upon the world in the mid 1990's and soon formed something of a cult following for those who enjoyed the socio-politico comment of acts of a similar vein toMcCarthy, but preferred their particular angst delivered from behind the relative safety of a twee/indie-pop cardigan and side-parting as opposed to anything that veered towards 'musical angry'.

Teeming with twee melodies, jangly indie-pop vignettes and an anger that is only matched by a lyrical dexterity that displays the truly sardonic humour that is so quintessentially British that it almost screams warm beer, crooked teeth, pork pies and brutal honesty, this double album career retrospective offers 26 artist chosen tracks from before and after The Spanish Amanda's musical hiatus (CD1 - 1995-2001 and CD2 - 2021-2023).

The Spanish Amanda are one of jangly indie-pop genuine unsung greats and this release shows just why.
