An Apple Where Her Face Should Be (After Hughes Mearns)

from Magritte by The Spanish Amanda

about

Just one clarification regarding the lyrics (assuming you can hear 'em... "bit heavy on the reverb, there, dad..." was the cat's opinion...): the bit about "hanging round in Heffer's" is a reference to a bookshop in Cambridge, not some sort of quaint agricultural practice enjoyed in the Hertfordshire hinterlands during the long winter evenings. I faintly regret the lyric, now (largely chosen for its alliterative appeal - the 'H' thing), since David's bookshop in Letchworth Garden City (a mere 5-minute trot from where I type...) has infinitely more charm than Heffer's... and its website is here:

They've just started selling beer in the cafe, folks..!! BEER..!! In a bookshop..!! Tell 'em Amanda sent ya...

Written by Huw Darling... with fairly obvious bits nicked from Hughes Mearns (we didn't think he'd mind, especially...).
